National Conference on Children’s Cooperatives to be Held in New Delhi

Butterflies will organise a two-day National Conference on Children’s Cooperatives on June 29 and 30, 2026, at Vishwa Yuvak Kendra, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi.

According to the concept note, the conference aims to examine the role of children’s cooperatives in social development, particularly in the areas of health, education, financial management, life skills, and democratic participation.

The conference will bring together policymakers, academicians, practitioners, and children to discuss trends, practices, and policies related to cooperatives and children’s development.

Founded in 1989, Butterflies works with street-connected and out-of-school children. Its Child Health and Sports Cooperative (CHSC) and Children’s Development Khazana (CDK) initiatives focus on health, hygiene, nutrition, emotional wellbeing, budgeting, savings, and democratic decision-making among children.

The organisation stated that these cooperative models have reached over 6,500 children through partner organisations in India and abroad.

The conference will feature plenary sessions, panel discussions, paper presentations, poster sessions, and digital storytelling by children. Themes include secondary cooperatives, health and mental wellness, financial management, democratic values, and cooperative learning.

Special sessions will also focus on children’s experiences in cooperatives during the COVID-19 pandemic and financial inclusion programmes for children.
