Delhi Child rights Club (DCRC), under the banner of Butterflies NGO celebrated World Mental Health Day Emotions Matter Campaign on October 10, 2023, in Central Park (Connaught Place) New Delhi, India from 1:00 PM to 6:30 PM.
Emotional wellbeing is a critical aspect of a child’s development, and Butterflies firmly believes that every child deserves a safe and nurturing environment to thrive. The Emotions Matter campaign seeks to shine a spotlight on this important aspect of children’s lives.
The event was an engaging and enlightening experience for attendees, with a schedule filled with diverse and meaningful activities and performances by the 21 organizations working under the umbrella network of DCRC.

The event Kick-started with a warm welcome and registration process. Ms. Rita Panicker, a distinguished figure in the field of child rights delivered the welcome address and provided essential insights into the day’s activities.
In her Welcome Address Ms. Rita Panicker – Director Butterflies India put the emphasis of the importance of the emotional and mental wellbeing specially for children and adolescents. The children from diverse backgrounds and various NGOs under Delhi Child Rights Club performed on Art and Craft, Canvas Painting, Fun Games, Music and Mime shows during the event capturing. the theme of emotional wellbeing and created awareness by their performances.
The highlights of the day were engaging and creative activities, including canvas painting, mime shows, skits and dance performances by street connected children of various organizations focusing on the sensitive issues of drug abuse, bullying, alcohol abuse, peer pressure etc. Apart from this the children participated in fun activities like the Spoon Race, Hoops Race, Painting Display etc.
The audience was captivated by the talents of street connected children and adolescents as they displayed their cultural performances and messages of importance of mental health. The dance performances and mime show were especially well received by the audience.
The children participating in the event were also vocal about the importance of emotional well-being. They said, “We want to make people aware about the importance of the emotional well-being of children through our performances and hope we will succeed in conveying the message.”
The event concluded with a symbolic balloon release, featuring messages of hope and support. Rita Panicker, the Director of the NGO Butterflies, said; Emotions Matter is a powerful campaign that underscores the importance of nurturing emotional wellbeing in children. We invite everyone to join us to celebrate, learn, and support our children.
