Compendium on Family Strengthening and Alternative Care Programme Practiced Across India

The “Compendium on Family Strengthening and Alternative Care Programme Practiced Across
India” documents existing practices around family-based care implemented with the support of
the state and civil society organisations across the country. The Compendium was initiated, as the
absence of documented evidence on family-based care practices in India was identified as a need
at the National Round Table on alternative care that was organised by CTWWC in 2019. In response
to this need, CTWWC India commissioned the compilation of the Compendium through the India
Alternative Care Network (IACN).

IACN is a collective dedicated to promoting the exchange of learning and dissemination of knowledge on issues related to children without parental care or at risk of separation. With online and offline initiatives, our purpose is to strengthen practice and policy for children in different care settings. The network brings together a diverse array of academicians, practitioners and policy advocates working on the well-being and protection of children in different care settings.

The IACN Secretariat is hosted at Butterflies and is supported by UNICEF India.
