Child Protection
CHILDLINE 1098 is an emergency helpline number for children in need of care and protection. It is first national toll free emergency outreach service for children in need of care and protection supported by Ministry of Women and Child Development. In addition to responding to the calls and intervention, the helpline is responsible to work with the allied systems to create child friendly systems in the district including training and sensitization of stakeholders on child rights and child protection issues and create awareness in the communities. Currently, Butterflies is operating CHILDLINE in South District and South-East District of Delhi since 1998 and 2015 respectively and at Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station since 2015.
Butterflies Resilience Centre (RC) is a short stay home for children in need of care and protection registered under Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act 2015. Children rescued through our CHILDLINE service are given temporary shelter at RC as per the directions of Child Welfare Committee (CWC) until they are restored back to their families or to a long term child care institutions. As Butterflies believes in non-institutionalization, maximum attempts are made to restore the child back to their families after family intervention, wherever possible. As it is a short-stay home, children cannot be enrolled in school, however education classes and extra-curricular activities are held with the children regularly including picnics, park visits, educational visits, etc.
